I dined recently at a hotel that gave all the traditional signals of a highly sophisticated establishment.
The menu was black text on gold paper. The waiters were smartly dressed, they addressed diners as sir and madam. The presentation of the dishes was remarkable.
But there was one inconsistency with this elegant story. One hitch to the sophisticated image.
The table cloth was filthy. There was three different stains around my area alone.
The sloppiness was pointing out that maybe this wasn’t the classy place I thought it was and it was prompting me to scrutinize the rest of the experience for more inconsistencies.
If you’re going for a holistic experience it pays to make sure every detail is taken care of.
There’s something about human nature that makes us focus on the mistakes. The less there are the better the story
