Committed vegetarians don’t get tempted by how delicious the steak looks, they don’t care how succulent the chicken sounds.
They made a decision to be a vegetarian and this decision removes a vast amount of other decisions.
When they examine a menu they don’t ask the question:
‘Will I be a vegetarian today?’
Instead they simply ask:
‘Which vegetarian option will I have?’
The commitment to their decision removes any carnivorous thoughts and instead they can direct their energy to finding the vegetarian option.
Another example is Seth Godin’s blog. One day he decided that he would blog daily. So when it comes to writing his blog it’s no longer an internal debate of:
‘Will I blog today?’
The question is:
‘What will I blog about today?’
The decision to remove a thousand decisions.
