Hugh and Henry

Hugh is describing his problems to Henry. Henry is listening intently.

Finally Hugh finishes his moan and awaits Henry’s response.

Henry blurts:

“Oh my god you should read this book it’s great for exactly what your talking about”

Hugh is not a big reader and he feels a bit miffed. He was looking for advice not for a book recommendation.

‘Alright’, Hugh replies begrudgingly ‘what’s it about?’

‘Ah you’ll just have to read it’ Henry replies.

Well now Hugh is more than miffed, he’s straight up annoyed and no better off then when he started this conversation.

Now Henry has to realize that not everyone reads books and if he wants to help out his friend he needs to be able to succinctly summarize the book and it’s relevance to Hugh’s problem.

That if Hugh was looking for a book recommendation he would’ve asked for a book recommendation but he wasn’t he wanted to solve his problem. And Henry had the answer but wasn’t able to articulate the answer well enough so he just went to the go to response of:

“Ah you’ll just have to read it”

If Henry can find the words to describe how Hugh can solve his problem based on the book he read he will have served his friend in a much better way.
