Arriving Late and trust.

If you’re late once that’s ok, nobody’s perfect.

But Bob is continuously late and because of that he has lost the trust of his peers.

If Bob says he’ll be there for 6 nobody believes him, they set their expectations for him to arrive anywhere between 6:30 & 7.

Bob’s peers find it excusable when the timekeeping isn’t vital, for example house parties, but when it matters Bob’s track record strikes anxiety into his friends and family.  

His family hound him early on, emphasizing the importance of arriving early and may even supervise him in his preparation.

His friends on the other factor in Bob’s lateness and give him a special start time. A start time that is 30-45 minutes earlier then everyone elses.  

The supervision and the fake start times are all because they can’t trust Bob to show up on time. Bob isn’t reliable by himself to actually appear when he says he will.

Let’s hope Bob’s professional timekeeping isn’t this bad because he would find it hard to hold onto any job if it was.
