It’s 9:05am, Francis has to be in work in 25 minutes and his car won’t start.
The stress is starting to get to him as he stands by his car scouring the car park, searching for a neighbour to approach their car so he can request a jump start.

That was the quote the garage gave Francis for the replacement battery.
It’s not that Francis couldn’t afford it, he simply decided it was too expensive for him.
From my point of view it’s very hard to sympathise with Francis’ stress as I see it as completely self inflicted.
Francis knew the battery was a problem and chose not to pay for a replacement. He also chose to leave it too late to travel to work by any other method. And now, to get to work on time, he’s relying on strangers to: 1) come out to their cars quickly and 2) be willing to help with a jump start.
In my opinion, Francis chose this stress. He didn’t choose for his car battery to die but he was compliant in causing the stress that he’s feeling now.
