The meeting is now in it’s third hour and there is still 94 slides to go.
At this stage focused attention is ancient history.
Finally the meeting ends and there is very little feedback.
Which is understandable because how could one feedback on a three hour presentation?
It’s hard enough to keep one’s attention for a three hour movie, let alone a business presentation.
Instead the presenter is requested to circulate the deck so the others can peruse and feedback on it in their own time.
So for me, this situation demands the question:
What is the point of presenting such a huge deck if the feedback is only going to come from analysing it alone, long after the presenter’s words have been forgotten?
Just a little foresight could’ve saved a huge amount of time for all of the attendants and their businesses.
An alternative I can think of is to calculate your attention span and schedule meetings accordingly.
“If it’s going to take over five minutes to present, then skip the call and just send me the deck.”
