The two day old cashier recommends a tactic for increasing impulse buying at her til.
Her manager responds with ‘Don’t touch the arrangement, just leave it as it is’
Wednesday
The increasingly frustrated cashier offers her opinion on how to better the flow of customers throughout the shop.
Her manager responds with ‘the customer flow is fine, now get back to work.’
How long do you think it will take the new cashier to realize that what her manager is looking for is blind obedience?
He doesn’t want to hear any suggestions. He doesn’t want to listen to her opinion. He just wants the cashier to do what she’s told.
As soon as the cashier accepts this her life is going to get so much easier.
Because then she can do one of two things:
A) She can quit this job and find one that values her opinion.
Or
B) She can simply turn off her suggestion maker and become a robot, thereby removing the cause of frustration.
