When rejection is taken personally it’s gut wrenching.
The devastation potential is so great that it could rob one of all desire to risk rejection again.
So how do people do it? How do people succeed in areas where there is not only a risk but actually rejection is common place?
I believe the trick is not to take rejection personally. To look at it objectively.
When someone says no, they’re not speaking for every human everywhere, they’re just speaking for themselves. It’s not for them.
Great! Find someone it is for.
Coming to terms with the fact that not everyone is going to like you can be very liberating.
Even the most popular people in the world aren’t liked by everyone.
When not received personally, rejection can be taken into your stride as you continue your search for the right person.
After all I presume you want to find the right person as quickly as possible.
Then time is of the essence and spending time moping about, licking your wounds of the rejection you took personally is going to waste a lot of that time.
This small tweak in how you view rejection can reduce the courage and emotional effort required to receive feedback.
