Manchester United is a football club that is over a hundred years old.
At this stage the number of players who have represented the club must be in the thousands or possibly tens of thousands.
Despite this huge cycle of personnel I would theorize that the team always had leaders.
Even when a charismatic influential captain retired, leaving considerably large shoes to fill, someone else stood up to the plate.
There will always be someone talking in the team huddle.
There will always be a demand for leaders.
Always.
