Perfect first time round

Perfect first time round

It was never going to be perfect the first time round.

Your team has finally agreed to implement your new process but it didn’t launch quite as smoothly as you would’ve liked. There were some promising moments but also definitely room for improvement.

You can sense the grumblings around you and you can feel the longing for the old way.

‘The old way was proven and tested and we knew how to work it!’

That’s how you imagine the conversations are going behind your back.

So I think that you manage this resistance to change by:

1) Emphasising this is a transition period.

‘We’re looking for progress not perfection here people’

And 2) focusing on optimising as quickly as possible.

With any new system there will always be kinks to work out but the quicker you do it the quicker those grumblings stop and everyone gets on board.
