In IKEA I saw a standing desk with a price tag of €500.
€500!
I am confident you could assemble a standing desk from ordinary items you find around your house.
Another option is to buy a bed in breakfast tray with legs and place it on top of the kitchen table.
Alternatively I’m sure you could build a standing desk for cheaper than €500.
I think the €500 price tag moves it firmly out of the reach of those who shop for function and instead places it in the sight of those who shop for status.
I think the profit margin of a €500 standing desk must be huge, because they’re not selling reliability, they’re selling a conversation starter.
Why a conversation starter?
Because I think there’s no way you don’t buy a €500 desk and not show it off to your friends and family.
