Seth Godin is a blogger and an author.
Seth blogs daily so his posts are really short. I’d say they average somewhere between 100 and 300 words each day. They’re short snappy and to the point.
What I really appreciate about Seth is that he doesn’t alter his style for his books. His books are like a collection of blog posts. They are just chock-a-block full of insights.
Seth has ruined other non fiction authors for me.
Why?
Because often when reading a non Seth Godin non fiction book I get the feeling the author is trying to make a 300 page book out of 5 insights.
In order to do that they have to replace brevity with waffle because you can’t have a 5 page book, that’s a pamphlet.
Whether as with Seth, he fills his books with insights. His latest book, ‘The Practice’, made 219 points in 250 pages.
I think the writing style is being influenced by an insight abundance or an insight scarcity.
