Daily blogging habit

You may have already noticed that I blog daily.

I can’t remember the last time I missed a day.

I think it’s over a year at this stage.

At this point crafting a blog post is not a burden but a highlight of my day. Something I look forward to and make time for.

But it hasn’t always been this way.

When I started out, roughly three years ago, I was all over the place. I could not maintain a posting consistency to save my life.

I started on January 17th 2018 and my second post wasn’t until 13 days later (Jan 30th).

Then an eleven day gap (Feb 10th) followed by an 18 day gap (Feb 28th).

Then I got some momentum and posted two days in a row (March 1st and 2nd) but failed to post for the rest of the month.

I only posted once in April.

But then I came on leaps and bounds in May with 10 posts.

But then my streak broke and broke hard with an 18 day gap until my next post.

But then I went 9 days in a row in June (17th – 25th).

Followed by a much shorter gap of 4 days.

Then 5 days in a row.

Then a 10 day gap.

Then 4 days in a row.

Then a 19 day gap.

Then 3 days in a row.

But then an absolutely atrocious gap (Aug 8th – Nov 10th).

But in the last month of the year, December 2018, I blogged 26 days out of a possible 31.

You can see all of this on my website: https://thomaspduggan.com/2018/page/8/

Anywho to sum up, the point I’m trying to make is, creating a new habit is hard.

It’s rare to be consistent straight away so don’t be so hard on yourself.

Progress not perfection!
