In a world where ghosting is the norm, emotional labour has never been more appreciated.
The bar is so low that just a response is above average.
If you can say yes and honour your word then you’re amazing.
If you can reply no, let someone down easy or provide constructive feedback then you are one in a million.
Even a ‘no’ response is better than no response.
Because the truth, no matter how painful, is preferable to uncertainty.
It’s better to cancel a party because you find out your attendees can’t make it rather than the devastating pain of being alone in a hall thinking no one likes you.
