La La Land ending

I think La La Land’s ending makes it.

I think if we examine everything else about the movie we would rate it average, maybe above average.

I think the fact that it was a surprising yet satisfying ending brought the rest of the movie up.

Had it ended like we all expected, the way every rom com ends, we could’ve chalked it down as your typical rom com.

To elaborate, let’s examine the other elements:

The dancing was quite good, the acting was not bad, the music was good, the dialogue was alright and the chemistry was above average but what I think made it special and worth talking about is the last 20 minutes.

The ending broke the rom com norm and now La La Land resembles Romeo and Juliet more than the thousands of rom com movies that came before it.
