Pondering a career change?

If you are considering a career change, I think it’s worth asking yourself the question – are you quitting because it’s getting hard?

Because if so, the next career will be no different.

The pain free life does not exist.

Even the most glamorous and sought after careers in the world have their low points.

I doubt Ryan Gosling loves being a movie star when over eager fans invade his privacy or the paparazzi chase him down the street.

I think each wildly successful individual, no matter what the field, felt like quitting at some point.

Hell Michael Jordan retired from professional basketball three times!

I think when you come to the ‘difficulty impasse’ you either quit or find a way to deal with it.

And I think the manner in which you deal with it is important too!

If the challenge fuels your problem solving skills and you find a solution to the difficulty, then I think you will become more passionate and committed to your field.

On the other hand I think if you deal with the issue by caring and engaging less then I think you will become unhappy and grumpy and bitter.

So are you quitting because it’s getting hard?
