Productivity and busyness

Something I have discovered about the world of employment is that the work far outweighs the time.

There is always something to do.

You could work flat out for the whole week and you would not find the end of the work.

Our to do lists are self replenishing.

Another thing I have found out is that there is a difference between busyness and productivity.

Busyness is just lurching from one task to the next trying to get as much ‘done’ as possible.

Productivity on the other hand is knowing you have limited resources and finding the nuance in the tasks to distinguish one worth your time.

The busy bee doesn’t think, they just do.

The productive soul peaks their head up from the day to day madness and looks down the line.

You may get a formal warning for ignoring urgent tasks but you could lose your job for neglecting the important strategic tasks.
