Putting the foot down

The parent who can’t bare to hear a child scream and is incapable of tough love creates a life that is not their own.

By never putting the foot down the parent’s needs are irrelevant and superseded by whatever tickles the fancy of the child in the moment.

It’s sad to see when a child abuses this power and the parent’s dignity goes out the window but the parent is an adult.

If they want their life back all they have to do is stand up for themselves.

The child will undoubtedly be upset by the dynamic change but at least the adult earns their freedom and possibly a smidgen of respect from the child too.
