‘Have you tried clicking this button?’
‘Oh that’s worked’
These conversations are always terrible. Because you will be found out quite quickly if you truly did try everything.
And the solution is always the most obvious, the most intuitive and mortifying solution in the world.
So you try to save face by lying:
‘That’s so weird, I tried that before and that didn’t work for me.’
I bet IT personnel love these conversations! It’s probably the reason why they follow up with:
‘Well if you want I can look into why it didn’t work for you before?’
To which the person who ‘tried everything’ replies:
‘Ah no that’s ok, it’s working now, I’m all good.’
