Deadline panic

I sent the ad copy a month ago but it was only on campaign launch day that I got feedback.

My suggested training plan was accepted by the committee 10 days ago but it’s the night before the first practice when people start to pitch in with alternatives.

I reckon this is a symptom of Steve Pressfield’s Resistance.

When the deadline was a month away there was no anxiety present.

The ad copy probably got a casual glance and a conclusion that it was fine.

But when the deadline is looming, fear creeps into proceedings and all of a sudden the ad copy is being examined with a fine tooth comb.

All of a sudden issues are being taken with commas, full stops and upper case letters.

Where was this anxiety a month ago?

Wholesale changes due to launch day panic ruin projects.

What i find an invaluable skill is imagining fear.

Transporting oneself in your mind’s eye to launch day, recording fear’s suggestions and then bringing them to the planning meeting.

That’s helpful!

Asking if we can squeeze in more drills into a practice session with less than 24 hours notice is not!
