Familiar notions

One of the difficulties of lateral thinking has to be finding new fertile headspace.

Unfortunately old ideas and familiar notions keep cropping up.

It’s like tire tracks on a dirt road, the more they’re used, the deeper the grooves and the harder to get out of them.

It’s like trying to find a road you don’t know in the village you’ve been living all your life.

Its like trying to see a vacuum cleaner as a toaster.

It’s like trying to find something new and interesting about yourself to tell your spouse of 50 years.

It can require some serious brain exercising.
