It’s funny how once you label something it becomes so much easier to spot.
Take ‘Toxic Masculinity’ for example.
I don’t know about you but in my experience of this term, it wasn’t around for the longest time and then all of a sudden it was being used everywhere.
And those caught acting out toxic masculinity were immediately considered out of date, expired, of another era.
At the drop of a hat it became fashionable to talk about your emotions.
I can’t help but think the sharp attacking word ‘toxic’ sparked men to avoid this label and start discussing their anger in non aggressive tones.
Before this label it seemed that’s just how men were.
We didn’t talk about our feelings because that would be to expose weakness.
If you were offended by a friend’s comments you showed it by mocking him not admitting they upset you.
Then the term ‘Toxic Masculinity’ came along and encouraged/shamed men to evolve.
