Stars of the zoo

I’d say zoo owners are terrified of the shortening attention span crisis.

Why?

Because the stars of their show didn’t get the memo.

The lions, tigers, zebras, cheetahs and giraffes couldn’t care less that people are dismissing them as boring.

They are sticking to their eating, sleeping, lying about lifestyle.

It doesn’t bother these creatures in the slightest that the attendance volumes are most likely dwindling.

I was at the zoo today with friends and I reckon the longest we stayed at an enclosure was 30 seconds. 10 if we couldn’t see the animal.

I was silently urging the lions to do something but they wouldn’t budge.

I wanted the tigers to prowl or roar but my best wishes would not disturb their inertia. They just lay there.

It only took 12 seconds of watching the Bisons grazing to realise that eating was all they were going to do.

The only exceptions to this per animal time limit was the ducks and the spider monkeys.

The reason being that the zoo lets you feed the ducks and the spider monkeys were having a very entertaining interaction which looked both like playing and fighting.

I’d say over the years, the time between entering and leaving zoos is getting smaller and smaller.

This particular zoo introduced a 4pm showing of the cheetahs chasing their dinner (raw meat on a fast moving hook) no doubt to cater to bored audiences and I predict more exciting activities like these will follow.
