It’s ironic that artists become perfectionists when it’s really the human-ness of art that we love.
Take Jackson Pollock’s drip paintings for example. They aren’t famous because they are perfect renditions of beautiful scenery, they look like an angry baby got into your paints!
Or how about Superman? The hero with every super power known to man.
How does he ever lose a fight?
It would be too boring if he was undefeatable.
They had to add kryptonite to make things interesting.
Sherlock Holmes needed a drug addiction, Dumbledore can’t trust himself with power, Batman is deeply flawed and Hamlet (the play) is over 400 years old because the character is an enigmatic mess of a human being.
Interesting outsells flawless.
