Perfectionism might try to convince you that you need more time.
That your short film would be better if you had another week to work on it.
I’d argue that getting better requires more failures.
You need to write that experimental novel you always wanted to try and gauge how people react to it.
Then go back to square one and give it your best again. Analyse the feedback again. What did they like, what didn’t they like?
Then write another!
And another!
And another!
All the while you’re slowly learning how to align what your chosen audience likes with how you want to show up in the world.
I think attaining that confident assertive creative mindset we all strive for comes from hundreds if not thousands of failures.
Perfectionism says don’t make a mistake.
Mastery says the best learning comes from mistakes.
