The interest bias

I think on the scale of ‘interesting’ the majority of people tend to tip towards biased.

We say things like:

‘this is definitely front page news’

and then the newspapers don’t run it at all.

Or we get our hopes up about a TikTok video we made that we just know is going to go viral.

But it barely moves the metaphorical needle.

It appears to me that, more often than not, people assume the interest of others.

Rather than having low expectations or a realistic view of what others find interesting.
