The evil robots were fast approaching.
The tanks from a nearby ledge were sending heavy gun fire my way.
My health was depleting fast.
The time to move was now!
And yet the narrow walkway that would take me to safety couldn’t have looked more intimidating.
You see there was a giant drop on either side of this 30cm wide path.
It didn’t matter that I was wearing a Virtual Reality headset.
It didn’t matter that my logical brain kept whispering in my ear – it’s not real, you’re actually standing in an entirely flat surface boring room.
My eyes were showing me a big feck off drop and it was flooding my brain with fear.
So, I tiptoed nervously across a plank that wasn’t there to avoid a drop that wasn’t there.
But by god the fear felt real!
It was like I was 5 years old again rooted to the bench in the middle of a London eye capsule paralysed with fear.
The experience got me thinking, how many artificial drops have I been avoiding?
What occasions in the real world have I not walked across the plank?
Where have I let fear overpower logic?
