Intentions salvation

A girl finds out that her boyfriend has been cheating on her.

She confronts him and he gives the following pathetic reply:

I was going to tell you myself

He says it as if this unverified presence of intent will be his salvation.

What a feeble and infuriating excuse.

It immediately triggers the response:

So, why didn’t you?

At the risk of sounding too harsh, intentions don’t cut it.

We can’t mind read so plans to communicate don’t count.

If the potential pain of a difficult conversation keeps you from much needed relationship maintenance then that relationship is terminally ill.
