I think the trouble people get into with management-subordinate relationships is when they bring power into it. Nobody wants to be dominated and no one wants to be seen as lesser. Therefore the old classics of respect, honesty, and seeing another human being as just another human being is the way to go.

By spotting their flaw and violently thinking less of them for it, you reveal your own. You can't hide from the psychiatrist. To them your attempts at secrecy read like an open book.
All that matters
Somewhere along the line someone convinced them that winning was all that mattered. And so Monopoly ends in tears, card games descend into arguments and matches lead to fights. Friendships have been broken. Relationships have been fractured. But it was all worth it because they won! Right? Right?!?

Conversation fomo
Frank brought it up in the group chat, and I knew the rest would chime in. So, wanting to be a part of the conversation, I watched the highlights. This is how minority sports grow.
Avoiding losing
There is winning and there is avoiding losing. The first brings joy. The second brings relief. The more you can experience the first the better. The second is a trap of winning. You're motivated by fear and embarrassment. The first is chasing achievement.
Nothing to write about
I have nothing to write about Which means... I have no good ideas Which means... The fear of failure has gotten the better of me at this point in time.
