You wonder about the state of masculinity when you see shows like Adolescence, when you see presidents like Trump, and you hear common men cheating, abusing, and manipulating their partners. What even is masculinity? Could the whole world agree on a definition or would it be subjective? Is it more masculine to commit suicide due … Continue reading Invulnerable

Pyramids of Egypt
Is it any wonder that the society that places such importance on being remembered after death built such massive structures that lasted 4,000 years? The pyramids are so impressive, especially when you think of how basic the tools were back in the day. No wonder there are conspiracies that aliens helped them. They are enormous … Continue reading Pyramids of Egypt
Firm and nice cop
I think people are quick to assume there is only one form of firmness and it's shouting. Whether as I think it's a spectrum and you can be polite and firm at the same time in a conversational volume. Two firm and nice cops might not make for a good movie or interrogation tactic but … Continue reading Firm and nice cop
One task at a time
The discipline on the waitress was fantastic.Despite the growing crowd waiting to be seated, the visibly frustrated customers without food, and the enormous table all wishing to pay separately she didn't veer from doing one task at a time. She just methodically turned the mountain into a manageable molehill, one task at a time.
Pain learns
We made the mistake of getting too attached to a house. We were too far gone into the dream of living there. We didn't even entertain the notion that we might not get it. The inner critic will skin you alive for every indiscipline but at some point you picked up that unhealthy coping mechanism for a reason. Life … Continue reading Bad to sad
Skill and direction
The aging 'playa' just locks in to charming the next lady. He doesn't stop to reflect on the loneliness. He just defaults to what he's good at. He can't see the wood for the trees. He sees a nail and he is the hammer. He could stop and ask: Is this the right nail for … Continue reading Skill and direction
Lazy AI
AI is like a lazy actor, it just wants to say the lines and go home. You have to be the exacting Director. You have to guide the performance and push it and give it reference points in order to squeeze out of it that great content. It's not a mind reader. Not yet anyway.
Persistent persuading
Winning someone over to your point of view can be so satisfying that we can get lost in the challenge of it. Sometimes its better to stop pushing and take on their point of view. Because ultimately there comes a point when the persistence becomes annoying and you start to hinder your own cause.
