Lotto

Then my department in work started a lotto pool, each week everyone chips in a €1 to buy a lotto ticket. And all of a sudden I’m throwing my rational consumer persona out the window and wasting a euro a week to play the lotto.

So what changed?

After some deliberation and missing a week’s contribution I have concluded that it is the fear of missing out that is driving this.

I wouldn’t be able to stand the thought of my colleagues become instant millionaires and not me, all because I didn’t give them a measly €1. So slowly but surely my finances leak €52 a year until I can conquer this fear.
