Myself and my housemates moved recently and I was amazed at the amount of crap we collectively had as a household.
I find it is the small regular disciplines that pay off big time in the long term.
For example, recently, when my car became embarrassingly dirty and I didn’t have the time or energy to carve out an hour or two to clean it. I started a routine of taking 2-3 pieces of rubbish from the car every time i left it. In no time the car was clean and it hasn’t gotten into such a state again.
Then on the opposite end of the spectrum, the hardest part of our house to clean before moving out was the toilet. The 2 years of accumulation of dirt coupled with the avoidance of us all to clean it meant it was by far the most disgusting part of the house (pre-clean).
The laziness and avoidance of cleaning can be seen everywhere (work desks, poor performing keywords, websites that need updating etc.).
