Jogging in the rain

So you decided to for a jog after work but when the time came it started pouring down rain and the temperature dropped to single figures.

All of a sudden it just became a lot easier to give up and you’ve never been so grateful to be inside. Your apartment has never felt so comfy.

So what do you do now?

Do you still go for the jog?
The weather has caused you to hesitate and the longer you wait the more it will squash the last of your resolve.

But instead you do the hard thing, you make good on your promise and you go out into the darkness for the jog.

And the weather is even worse than you imagined. You’re soaked within seconds of leaving the house and you’ve so much further to go. And with every step the little voice in your head screams at you to turn back.

Then you start to realize that with each step the voice is getting quieter, it’s submitting to your willpower. It’s given up it’s attempts to sabotage you and you actually start to enjoy the terrible weather. Before you know it, you’re singing in the rain!
You finally get home and it feels amazing. Even though your legs and face are bright red from chilblains you don’t care because you’re dead proud of yourself.

You may not always feel this good when you leave your comfort zone but it definitely makes you more resilient, courageous and stronger for the next time.
