Stansted Arrivals

I recently went to Cambridge to visit my two friends for their joint birthday party.

Safe to say I couldn’t wait to see them. It had been a few months since we’d last hung out and we always have a good time together.

So as I walked through Stansted towards the exit the anticipation was killing me. I was beside myself with excitement.

I came through the arrival doors and I couldn’t see them.

“Oh they’re hiding on me”

So I walked around the arrivals area, with a big grin on my face looking for them.

“These muppets are gonna pop out at any second now”

But then I came to the last bit and couldn’t find them.

I walked around again and couldn’t find them again.

And then it dawned on me… they weren’t there.

Well maybe they were on their way. So I rang them and they weren’t on their way because they were still at home.

They had forgotten.

I felt like some tit for scouring the arrivals area wearing a big stupid smile.

Needless to say it was an embarrassing moment for us but we got over it quickly and didn’t let it ruin the weekend or even the night.

Now in their defense, I had to take responsibility for my part of the breakdown of communication.

We had agreed that they would pick me up but it was 3 weeks ago and I hadn’t reminded them closer to my arrival.

And in this day and age with memories and attention spans what they are, I should’ve reminded them.

So let that be a lesson to you, if you don’t want to wander around Stansted airport looking like the biggest goon alive, send a quick confirmation message beforehand.
