Writing during the week is easy to do. There are time constraints, you have to go to work, return from lunch or go to bed. Therefore it’s easier to start writing immediately because to not do so would mean the blog post will never get written.
It is undoubtedly harder to write on the weekends because there are no time constraints, no plans, you’ve got nothing on and nowhere to be.
Therefore the wily trickster that is your resistance can convincingly say:
“What’s the rush? You’ve got all the time in the world, the weekend is made for relaxing!”
The fact that it’s just you with an ample amount of time makes it infinitely easier to simply push the inconvenient work back a bit. And then back another bit until it is absolutely crucial for you to start writing.
If you find this situation familiar then I shall suggest, for you the reader, a solution:
Set yourself a deadline!
If you find setting a deadline that only you know about, too easy to extend then schedule one with another person.
Schedule a coffee date with a friend.
Book movie tickets.
Arrange a call.
It’s often easier to make a deadline when someone relies on you, therefore use this to your advantage. Plan ahead and create the urgency you require to get the work done.
