At the end of ‘Yesterday’ (the beatles movie) …
Spoiler alert! …
There’s a great montage of Jack and Ellie’s ‘Today’. In the montage whilst ‘Ob la di Ob la da’ is playing, you see Jack and Ellie as teachers, you see them playing with their kids and they look very happy together.
The images coupled with the song make for a very powerful sequence.
Had the sequence been with just the images and no sound it wouldn’t have been half as moving. Alternatively if they had simply played ‘Ob la di Ob la da’ by itself with no images, possibly whilst the credits are rolling you wouldn’t have felt the same emotion.
But together, each aspect (music and images), enhanced the sequence to make a great ending.
