Checking out

Check out was half an hour ago and nobody has left their room yet.

The effort of getting up to leave by 10am after a night out was deemed too much for the guests, plural! That’s important to note because this decision was not made by an individual but by a group. Everyone saw it as inconvenient but it was only through a group discussion and one strong personality convincing the weaker ones that they wouldn’t get into trouble for missing the check out time. The weaker personalities then went along with it because of social pressure and the allure of shared blame should there be any punishment.

There’s strength … and weakness in numbers.
