Experimenting & Battleships

Experimenting is a lot like battleships.

There’s a target, a sweet spot, a point to aim for but you can’t see it right now. And if you hit it you win.

So to find that sweet spot you have to start shooting without knowing whether it’s going to work or not.

With each miss you get closer to the target and with each hit you receive an indicator that you’re on to something.

PS – A good Battleships player records their misses because learning from the misses makes it much easier to hit the target.
