The topic of weddings provides a rich conversation source in today’s society.
Interactions that often lead to lengthy discussions and comparisons on anything related to the wedding.
With each wedding looking to be unique and remarkable in it’s own way to feed this social norm I believe that there are two ways people aim to differentiate their happy day from their peers.
One to throw money at the event or two to make the occasion extremely personal.
It’s inevitable for guests to try and calculate the cost of the wedding (often in groups whilst eating the main course) so you can stun them with the size of the venue or a helicopter entrance or even a famous live band.
The alternative course is to provide your guests with a warm fuzzy feeling inside. Probably the harder of the two options as it requires significant emotional labour and organising considerable personal touches that may miss the mark but a less costly option.
Since weddings hold such a special place in the conversations of modern adults they will inevitably be compared but the choice is yours whether to buy into the whole narrative of ‘your wedding is lesser because it was cheaper.’
