As a last resort, in order to flatten the Covid-19 curve, the Irish government has enforced a lockdown.
I think it was a last resort because people love their freedom.
Freedom is hard earned (eg. wars of independence) and shouldn’t be taken lightly.
You always want to feel like you have freedom, freedom to do it how you want to do it. Be it work tasks or how you live your life.
It’s no coincidence that prison, one of the most severe societal punishments, is the removal of one’s freedom.
