Post job interview – You’re great you just don’t have the specific experience we’re looking for.
Performance review – Yep everything is great, there is nothing to improve on.
Breaking up – It’s not you it’s me.
Good constructive feedback is hard to come by.
I think what makes giving feedback difficult is when we try to manage how others see us.
Everyone wants to be seen as nice and everyone wants to be liked. Therefore we become uncomfortable and start to mince our words when we have something other than positive to say.
It’s easy to say what they did well, it’s hard to say what they need to improve on.
It is a sign of a close relationship when constructive feedback can flow freely.
