Feeling stupid

I hate Trivial Pursuit.

It’s such a stupid game.

All these questions are stupid.

Who needs to know that? Like really, who cares?

I care about important stuff!

Oh wait I know this one!

Ok I’ll admit, Trivial Pursuit isn’t all bad.

Let me update my introductory sentence to…

I hate Trivial Pursuit, unless I know the answer.

I think people don’t hate board games, they hate feeling stupid.

Feeling stupid is embarrassing and infuriating. It transforms you into the grumpiest apathetic version of yourself.

Feeling stupid is most likely the root of all heated and overly competitive board games.

So I think if you want to remove the tension and stress from your games nights then it’s best to find a good strategy to address the ‘feeling stupid’ sensation.

Take Trivial Pursuit for example, the strategy is in the name.

It’s trivial knowledge.

There is very little economic benefit to knowing it.

The only benefit to knowing a ton of trivial knowledge is to win at Trivial Pursuit. Very little else.

You either know the answer or you don’t and if you don’t, your intelligence doesn’t suffer because of it.

You can be an intelligent person and lose at Trivial Pursuit.
