Universal popularity

Robert De Niro is widely considered one of the best actors ever but this doesn’t exempt him from criticism.

Those who work on the Jimmy Kimmel show could find numerous tweets berating the actor.

There’s a thread on Reddit called ‘I HATE the Beatles’ with multiple users chipping in to agree.

Much to my dismay there are people in this world who have never seen and never want to see Star Wars.

It appears that universal popularity is unattainable.

I don’t think anyone would argue that sentence. In fact I’d say most people would consider it an obvious statement.

And yet we let those who have critiqued us dog our thoughts.

And yet we change tact to avoid dislike.

And yet we agonise over interactions and micro facial expressions.

The gulf between recognising a truth and practicing that truth is large.
