It was the first of September in his third year when the majority of his classmates remembered his real name was actually Harry.
Reason being, Harry spent the summer getting absolutely ripped.
He replaced mounds of fat with rock hard muscles.
He traded in his multipacks of crisps for a six pack of abs.
His body no longer wobbled when he walked but tensed and flexed.
The bullies were stumped.
Harry had robbed them of all their favourite insults.
No longer could they call him big fat fatty, or fatso or whale man or hippo boy.
None of them applied any more.
Harry looked great!
I think the same concept can apply to your internal bully.
The line ‘youre a terrible screenwriter’ loses a lot of its power after you win an Oscar and Aaron Sorkin says you’ve got the gift.
The internal chants of ‘your lazy’ quickly become pathetic after you have gone on your 10th job in 20 days.
‘You’re a wimp’ becomes an outdated insult once you’ve established that you chat up strangers regularly.
Nothing shuts up an internal bully like action.
