Psychological digging

I think deep psychology is scary to most.

I think it shatters the illusion that we are wise rational beings.

To see merit in a deeper more sadistic motive behind decisions can be disturbing.

We’d like to think we are evolved creatures who make informed decisions, not that we chose inferior friends so that we could make ourselves feel better.

Or that we hire weak minded people so that we can manipulate them.

Or that we are unconsciously sabotaging our child’s efforts so they don’t leave us.

So many don’t look, they stay at surface level and avoid psychiatrists at cocktail parties.

Better to be a little awkward than to shine the spotlight on all your potentially nefarious blind spots.

But then again if you’re comfortable with the imperfect human tagline you’ll be fine.

You’ll be able to withstand the identity shattering insights because you’re not pretending to be flawless.
