Relieved embarassment

You’ve lost something and you’re also losing your mind trying to find it.

You ask people have they seen it.

They haven’t.

You turn the place upside down, still can’t find it.

Then it turns out it was in your pocket all along.

Now you’re partially relieved and grateful that you found it but on the other hand you’re also mortified.

Why?

Because now you’re going to have to tell all those nice people where you found it.

And that means admitting to not properly checking such an obvious place.

Would you confess the location or pretend it remains lost or lie about where you found it?
