The self made man doesn't exist.If you scrutinize hard enough you'll see behind the 'self made man' the village that raised him and all the help he received along the way.Nobody makes it on their own.Therefore is it worth making life harder on yourself by insisting you do it all yourself?

I think those assured in their argument use decibels sparingly. But the insecure and doubtful need volume when expressing their opinions. To hazard a guess at why, I think it's either to sound authoritative or to add an air of aggression to proceedings to intimidate those uncomfortable with confrontation.
